Upload Files Using an SFTP Client

WinSCP is a free tool for Windows that allows you to upload files to your web server. To download, configure and upload files to your website simply follow these steps:

Here are the steps for connecting and uploading:

  1. Download WinSCP from https://winscp.net
  2. Run the installation program.
    1. Choose the Typical Installation Option when prompted
    2. Choose the Explorer Option when prompted
  3. Open the program
  4. In the Login Screen that appears
    1. Change file protocol to SCP or SFTP
    2. Set the host name to server0.exodios.net or server1.exodios.net
      If you are uncertain which server to use, do not hesitate to contact us.
    3. Set the username to the username that you have been provided with by Exodios Web Hosting.
      If you are uncertain what your username is, do not hesitate to contact us.
    4. Set the password to the password that you have been provided with by Exodios Web Hosting.
      If you are uncertain what your password is, do not hesitate to contact us.
    5. Optional: You may want to use the save button to save these settings for future connections.
    6. Click Login
  5. If prompted for allowing the connection to an unknown server select yes.
  6. Navigate to the folder where the files on your website should be stored by pasting the following string into the Address Field at the top of the WinSCP window:
    /home/(FTP username)/web/(Your domain name)/public_html
  7. Click and drag the file to be upload to the website into the file list on the right hand side of the WinSCP window.
